In November of 1997 Quron found something that people have spent their entire lives looking for; his passion. Having been raised in two cities very rich in music, (Baltimore, Maryland and San Diego, California), music had always played a large part in his life. But it was when he picked his first saxophone that he knew he was never putting it down again. He knew he had found what he loved, and he wasn't about to let it go."The day I stop playing that horn is the day that I leave this Earth," he says.
A lot of his support and early inspiration came from his family; Quron was born to Ronald and Renne Witherspoon and was the middle of five other children; plenty of people to draw inspiration from. As he got older and progressed within his music he began to draw inspiration and influence from other places. Never the type to discriminate, and a lover of music in general, his tastes and influences range anywhere from Hip-hop to Alternative, Rock to Blues, Neo-Soul, and all the genres and sub-genres in-between. Quron is inspired, as well as a fan of, musicians like Charlie Parker, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Marcus Miller, and Elton John. Producers like Ryan Leslie, Timbaland, Kanye West, Dr. Dre, and DJ Premire also play an influential rule in Quron's growth with and in his music and sound. However, his greatest influence is, without a doubt, Pharrell Williams of the Neptunes.
It was June of 2008 when Quron got the chance to not only meet and shake hands with Williams, but to perform on stage with him, in front of a live audience. The experience, Quron says, changed him forever. "I'll never forget that time; it was like a call from God, showing me a little preview of what I know I can become and where I know I can go. I just couldn't believe it! The crowd, the energy; just the fact that people had come all this way to see you do something that you love to do! It's unbelievable." It was this experience that set Quron's goal, concentrated and whole, in concrete; he wanted that. That feeling he had on stage with Williams; he wanted to be able to do that on his own, by his own creation, whenever he could. And his journey began; Quron decided to do everything in his power to get to that level; to climb on past his influences, even. Maybe even to become an influence of someone else; someone who loves music and the art of performance just as much as he does.
